I do this too (although without that fancy gadget, of course)! Empty egg cartons are also good for this purpose. Works perfectly for lettuce, tomatoes, etc. The bonus is that this is significantly easier on a plant’s roots than the typical, stressful transplant process. Give ‘er a try!
